Jerkey, Fireworks, and Fruit

without comments

Picasa Photo Gallery
After ditching Courtney and Chase after breakfast, I headed up to Buc-ees and Junior’s Smokehouse to get some Beef and Turkey Jerkey. Once that was accomplished, located a nice little fireworks stand, then picked up some fresh side of the highway fruit for Courtney’s fruit salad. Great success!

Snow In Houston

without comments

Posted by Picasa Photo Gallery

Well we got snow in Houston today . . . I know, not alot, but snow happens once every few years over here since we are so close to the warm Gulf of Mexico.  Anyway it just started and I will be updating the gallery the rest of the day as it snows a bit more.  I can’t wait for Chase to get out of school so we can go outside and play.  He hasn’t seen snow since last Christmas when he was in Seattle visiting Uncle Aaron and Aunt Kim.  In the mean time, enjoy a few snaps I took.

Discovery Green

without comments

Today Dustin and I took a short drive down to Discovery Green in downtown to try out his new Nikon D5000 and 18-105mm VR lens.  The weather was gloomy, but we did meet some fellow photogs while out on our shoot.  Lunch was at Bigs on Montrose, and the sliders left little reason to come back for more.

Civic Needs Fixin’

without comments

Well I find myself at Goodson Honda again today as my car is making some strange noises. I had Honda do some routine maintenance last Friday as I was approaching the 50K marker. They replaced the transmission blood, tire rotation, oil change, and much needed windshield wipers, just in time for the rain over the weekend. When I left the dealership last Friday, my car was making some strange vibrations and noises from the front wheels. Today they say that my alignment was off on the rear, and it messed up my tires. I directed them to Honda TSB 08-001 which addresses the issue I am having. Let’s see if they replace my tires while they are at it as they are messed up now.

What Can Brown Do For You? Lose Your Package (And Find It)!

without comments

So last Tuesday (Aug 18), I shipped out a Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8 lens to a fellow photog up in New Jersey and was happy to have cash in my hands for my beautiful DX lens. I did what any normal person would do, I let BROWN handle the delivery. Here is where the story gets interesting . . .

I got a call from Xin (the dude that bought my glass) on Monday (Aug 24) this week, and he told me that he has no lens, and no tracking information is online. I immediately went over to the UPS Store by my pad to give them a WTF, and they were closed (missed it by 15 minutes). Nevermind the fact that my car wouldn’t start and I needed to call Honda for Roadside Assistance to deal with it (it’s all cool now) . . . the bad thing was that when I dropped off the box the week before, I did not wait for any receipt that they took the package from me. So for the last week (after refunding Xin’s coin), I have been dealing with the fact that I am out $900 for my bad.

Fast forward to today . . .
I get a call from Shelia @ UPS “Lost and Found” and was told that they located my lens. As a security check, she wanted me to identify the color of the lens . . . IT’S BLACK!
So after finding it’s way to Missouri (its not really on the way), it is headed back home to Houston. Maybe the UPS driver will give me a thumbs up and a six pack of Shiner for my trouble.
