Files posted on SkyDrive

The original script comes from Johan Arwidmark’s Deployment Research Blog, but for someone without much knowledge about PowerShell, it takes a bit of tweaking. So while I use this script frequently, I thought I would add comments to the script so it would be easier to customize.

You start out with a Driver Import directory. Since we are using Dell systems in our Enterprise, I grab all the CAB files that I need from Dell Driver CAB files for Enterprise Client OS Deployment. I then extract the CAB contents and place them in my Driver Import directory.
It is important to keep track of how many levels get imported, to know which level is what is important. This needs to be consistent.

In my example above, I have 6 Levels, with the 6th Level the one I want to import. So my PowerShell Script needs to be formatted to create directories for Levels 1-5, and create and import the 6th Level. It will make sense when you view the script.

I recommend running the script in PowerShell ISE as I have found running straight in PowerShell may sometimes exit for no reason (I will try to enable logging and find out, but the workaround is simple enough). The script will only import drivers that are needed, and copy entries for duplicates. After running the import, your MDT Structure will be identical to the Import Directory Structure.

With further customization, the script can be adapted to any Driver Structure . . . even Total Control “Extreme”

We started the morning with some breakfast at 59 Diner (Chase’s pick). Chase was still happy about losing his second tooth in as many days. We did some shopping at the Gap and got him some shorts for when it gets warmer (which should be soon enough in Houston). Later in the day we spent some time in the local part letting Chase stretch his legs for a bit. What a nice day

In preparation for some new announcement by Nikon showcasing a new EVIL camera, I bought a new body cap, the Nikon BF-1B from B&H. These pics are a comparison with the current cap. Hopefully this will keep me from being confused with a potential new format.

The first thing I notice is the prominent “F mount” moniker on the front of the cap. This is what is causing the rumor of a possible new mount. It is noticeably thicker as you can see from the profile picture.

While I do not have a picture of the mating, coupling the BF-1B Body Cap with the LF-1 Rear Lens Cap seems to fit snugly, while the BF-1A does not, it comes loose. I am awaiting delivery of the LF-4 to see what the new Rear Lens Cap will do.
